Tisse Bakery
From Shell & Core to a Finished Interior
Tisse Bakery Karlín is located in the modern Block Karlín building. When the premises were handed over to us, they were in a Shell & Core condition – an empty structural space without any interior fit-out. Our task was to deliver the complete construction fit-out according to the client’s architect’s design and transform the space into a fully operational bakery and café. Within an area of 165 m², we coordinated all technical systems and building services, prepared the infrastructure for the catering equipment, installed plasterboard partition walls, and constructed all supporting facilities, including restrooms, a staff room, and food preparation areas. The entire project was completed within three months.
Terrazzo Flooring as the Interior’s Signature Feature
The terrazzo floor is the defining feature of the interior. Its final appearance was developed through an extensive sampling process carried out in close cooperation with the client. The installation itself was technically demanding, involving meticulous substrate preparation, pouring the terrazzo using natural stone aggregate imported directly from Italy, and a time-intensive process of repeated grinding before the final surface finish was achieved. Although waiting for the delivery of the Italian material extended the preparation phase, the finished result was well worth it and fully reflects the quality and character the client envisioned.
Doors That Make a Statement
One of the most distinctive visual elements of the interior is the collection of steel doors, which the architect intentionally left without a pigmented finish. Instead, only a clear protective coating was applied, sealing the material while allowing the natural texture and appearance of the steel to remain visible. This unconventional approach creates a striking industrial contrast with the surrounding materials and gives the interior an authentic and distinctive character. Details such as these are what transform a space into a truly cohesive and carefully considered design, and this project is a perfect example of that. We handed over the premises fully prepared for the installation of the catering equipment as well as all built-in and freestanding furniture. We believe that Tisse Bakery Karlín will delight its visitors just as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.
